Summer Entertainment Made Easy

Here in Charleston, summer comes quickly and decides to stay longer than some would prefer. So, it is important that we and our fellow neighbors stay cool and embrace it while it is here. One of our recently completed homes in Daniel Island has the perfect spot fitted to do so. It harbors an adaptable space that can quickly turn from indoor comfort to outdoor luxury, with enough space to entertain friends and family. The interior living and kitchen space is connected to the gorgeous outdoor kitchenet and pool deck by Origin bi-fold doors with sleek black trim that makes transforming the space easy. The poolside kitchenet has a built-in outdoor grill perfect for summer barbeques by the pool, with enough space surrounding to both prep and serve. There is also an ice maker built-in to ensure that everyone stays cool on these unexpectedly hot summer days. One of the most unique features that this kitchenet holds is its very own kegerator. The kegerator is able to keep your choice of beer cold and ready on tap at any time. The pool deck also homes a fire pit that is ready on standby for when those hot days turn into cool nights.

The kitchenet is parallel to this inviting pool with a surrounding catwalk that has never ending views of the gorgeous Charleston coast. Perfect place to relax and watch passing ships float by.

Along with this adaptable space comes the cabana, another exceptional transition space! Our homeowners chose the most fun and creative designs for this area and we could not imagine it any other way. The bathroom features a walk in shower with a Mosaic tile accent wall that flows into the rest of the bathroom’s Quetzal wall tile. The space is also complimented by silver finishes and a walnut grain vanity that adds to its tropical feel. Situated outside of the bathroom is a bedroom wall that is far beyond suitable for this cabana. This teal accent wall features detailed etching in all different directions. The patterns are never ending in this space. All different and unique, but yet blended so well together.

We had a great time last month at the International Builder Show in Las Vegas and we wanted to share a few of our favorite new home innovations that are a must-have in your 2020 custom build!

New must-have kitchen appliances! We saw a wide range (pun intended) of new appliances equipped with smart-home technology and offered in multiple finish color options. These definitely take cooking & entertaining to the next level of fun and efficiency!
- Miele Built-in Coffee Machine! This was one of our favorite kitchen gadgets that we saw and will become an essential part of your new 2020 kitchen. With the capability to make espressos to macchiatos, this in-home machine may give Starbucks a run for its money. - The Dacor Integrated Wine Column! This full-sized wine fridge holds up to 100 bottles and regulates the perfect “wine cellar” temperature & humidity from your smart phone. - Multi-function & multi-colored ranges! Two brands that caught our eye were the Miele Range & the Dacor Range. The Miele boasts convenient dual fuel, touch controls, moisture plus, crisper and 3-door functions. This is perfect for the multi-tasking holiday party host(ess). The Dacor is a full-feature range that is available in any color under the sun- yes we said ANY color. Through the DacorMatch technology, you can have this range personalized to any color of your choosing to really make it the center piece of your kitchen.

Thankful For Our Community

Four of our homes for the Metanoia Foundation came to a close and we are excited to see these homes loved and lived-in by families in the Chicora-Cherokee community! As part of their Homeowner Initiative, we are helping the foundation establish quality housing in the area. We worked with local subcontractors with-in the Chicora-Cherokee community to help generate economic development in the area. Part of Metanoia’s core approach is creating opportunities and providing resources so the neighborhood residents can become stewards of their own community. We are so thankful to get the opportunity to work alongside with this amazing organization. Catch Us Around Town This Fall!

Be on the lookout for our team around town this fall! With several projects finishing up & several projects just starting, you will see us in multiple locations around Charleston.

Expect to see us on Daniel Island as three new site signs hit the ground. We are just as excited as these new homeowners and can’t wait to document their building process phase-by-phase.

You will also find us in the middle of a custom home project in Park Circle for another amazing client. The siding & drywall are going up this week and we are eagerly awaiting the pool foundation to begin. Tucked right up on the marsh, this home’s location can’t be beat!

Just around the corner, in Park Circle, we have two of our coastal cottage homes beginning to take shape. Check out MLS for more details on the availability of these homes.

Further down on the peninsula, close to Hampton Park & Lowndes Grove, we are in the middle of a renovation project. We gutted the kitchen & bathrooms, opened up a wall and will be refinishing all of the floors. We can’t wait to see how this home comes back to life once we are finished with this project!

Check Out Two Of Our Latest Projects

We hope everyone stayed safe during the hurricane last week and our thoughts are with those who were impacted. On the eve of the long weekend last week, two of our favorite projects came to a close and we are so happy for our new homeowners!

Our last Point Verona project is now home to a wonderful couple from DC who are excited to explore Charleston and the Lowcountry with their family. Despite working with us remotely, this couple’s vision of a coastal retreat seamlessly came to life over numerous conference calls, emails and Facetime sessions. Stay tuned as we partner with Emily Stallings of Stallings Studio to furnish and style the home for the professional photoshoot!

Our newly renovated home on Buist Avenue in Park Circle is also saying hello to its new homeowners this weekend. This house made a huge transformation during the renovation process and before picture can be found in our blog post from May 23rd, 2019. I know the new homeowners will enjoy the scenic duck pond view from their double-decker porches as they settle into their new home.

We could not have executed either of these homes without the help from our DCH team, subcontractors and suppliers. We want to thank everyone for their hard work and support in turning these projects into the homes and retreats that our homeowners will cherish with their families.

Our thoughts and prayers are going out to the Bahamas and to everyone who was affected by the hurricane.

Home With A Harbor View

Our second Point Verona home came to a close last week and we are thrilled with how it turned out! Located in the Point Verona community off of Harbor View Road, this home boasts an incredible view of the Charleston Harbor from the rooftop deck. These homeowners will enjoy sea breezes and cocktails (from the top floor wet bar) while watching sailboats zig-zag to Fort Sumter and back. The interior of the home has a transitional calmness where modern elements harmonize with traditional elements. The traditional picketed staircase threads through the home’s modern vertical floorplan from the great room to the rooftop. The great room encompasses the kitchen, living room and dining room and is bathed in natural light from a dozen oversized windows. The large wood-stained island is the main feature of the kitchen. It complements the darker variations seen in the light oak flooring that runs through-out the house. A leathered quartzite slab sits atop the cabinets where variegated grey and brown veining picks up on the wood-tones of the cabinets and the grey-tones of the tile backsplash. There is an underlying symmetry through-out the kitchen that demonstrates how well-thought-out the space is. Overall, we are excited for our homeowners to get settled into their new home and enjoy the harbor views.

A Modern Marsh View

We completed our first Point Verona home earlier this week and we couldn’t be happier for our new homeowners. This 4-story, vertical, James Island home is embellished with sleek modern finishes through-out and features an expansive marsh view from the rooftop deck.

The kitchen’s satin black cabinets are draped in a grey-veined, white quartz and accented with champagne bronze pulls. The angled Brizo, lux-gold, faucet with knurled detailing adds a touch of glamour to the kitchen and complements the glossy, handmade, herringbone tile splashed behind the gas range. The cone pendants’ sleek caged canopy profile is seen repeated in the ultra-modern, black and gold, Peregrine ceiling fan.

The design scheme is then carried into the powder room where a lucite & gold framed mirror magnifies the black & white, deco-tiled wall. The natural wood elements of the living room floating shelves and the powder room custom-made, floating vanity bring warmth to the space.

The marine wire staircase along with the three-dozen windows make this home bright, light and fresh. The wet bar and bathrooms are adorned with modern fixtures and geometric mosaic tiles while the shiplap-clad 3rd floor ceiling draws you up to the rooftop terrace. We can’t wait to see how house 2 & 3 turn out in our Point Verona project!
